In the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak, the concept of Remote Working is a hot topic and health concerns are driving more companies to allowing employees to work remotely until the virus is contained. For most companies in affected countries around the world, working from home is no longer a luxury but instead a requirement which means that we are on the cusp of a flexible working revolution.

Modern companies have experienced a much smoother transition as they would have already been using collaborative technology but for others, especially in the Caribbean, the shift has left many wondering where to begin.

Here at TSL, we have curated a list of tools that will help you kick-start your remote working efforts!

Security
Working from home or offsite always presented a security challenge. With so many more employees working from home, malicious opportunists are ramping up their efforts to infiltrate your infrastructure. Checkpoint Security is now offering free access to their Virtual Private Network (VPN) services which you can sign up for here. If you’re not certain what your overall security posture is, Hitachi Systems Security can help review or develop a business continuity plan to take you through this COVID-19 pandemic, particularly as it relates to your overall cyber security approach.

Electronic Document Management
If you weren’t previously considering what your company’s digital transformation would look like, you certainly are now as work from home employees are no longer steps away from the multifunction printers at the office. So the ability to sign, store, and retrieve documents in their electronic state is now a necessity to maintain traditional workflows. While Xerox is known mainly for their print solutions, they’ve been developing all of the abovementioned for years and have quite the suite of solutions like DocuShare and DocuSign, that help you work in a digital environment.

Many employees at TSL have been working from home for almost 2 weeks and have used these tools out of necessity and so far we’re incredibly pleased with the productivity and seamless collaboration they have afforded the different teams within the company. While your company’s remote working strategy will be unique to different teams and departments and will probably require some trial and error, once you get started with the right tools that fit best for your team’s needs, the benefits of these tools become very obvious and even after the Coronavirus is long gone, use of these are highly likely to continue.

As the coronavirus outbreak is forcing many businesses to facilitate work from home for their employees, we want to assure you that Trinidad Systems Limited and our partners are here to assist as best we can.

Should you require assistance or additional information for any of the abovementioned feel free to contact us at your earliest convenience.

And wherever you are working from today, be safe!
